Check the Fine Print Before You Claim

Check the Fine Print Before You Claim — MQ8

Start with wagering requirements

The first number to find in any bonus terms is the wagering requirement, usually written as a multiple like 20x or 30x. This tells you how many times you must bet the bonus amount before you can withdraw any winnings from it. A lower multiple is easier to clear, but it is not the only factor.

Look for the phrase 'turnover' or 'rollover' in the terms. If the wagering applies to the deposit plus the bonus, that is a higher bar than just the bonus alone. For example, a 30x on bonus only is more player-friendly than a 20x on deposit plus bonus. Compare the real number, not the advertised headline.

Check game contribution percentages

Not all games count the same toward your wagering. Many sites give slots 100% contribution, but table games like blackjack or roulette might only count 10% or even zero. If you prefer live dealer or table games, a bonus with low contribution for those games will be hard to clear.

Read the contribution table in the terms. It is usually a list of game categories with their percentage. If a game does not appear, assume it contributes zero. This matters because playing a game that contributes nothing means your bets do not help you meet the requirement at all.

Look at the validity period

Bonuses do not last forever. The terms will state a validity period, often 7, 14, or 30 days after you claim. If you do not meet the wagering within that time, the bonus and any winnings from it are forfeited. This is a common reason players lose their bonus money.

Decide if the time frame is realistic for your playing habits. If you only play on weekends, a 7-day window may be too tight. Some sites also pause the clock when you do not play, but that is rare. Always note the expiry date and set a reminder if you plan to chase the bonus.

Understand payment method restrictions

Your choice of deposit method can affect whether you get the bonus. Some sites exclude bonuses for deposits made with certain e-wallets like Touch 'n Go or GrabPay, or they may not offer the bonus at all. Check the terms for a list of qualifying payment methods.

In Malaysia, you often deposit via bank transfer, online banking, or e-wallets such as Boost or DuitNow. If you want the bonus, use a method that is listed as eligible. If you use a restricted method, you might still get the deposit but no bonus, and any wagering from that deposit won't count toward a bonus.

Know the maximum bet and game limits

While wagering, you may be limited to a maximum bet per spin or hand, often around RM30 or RM50. If you exceed that, the site can void your bonus and winnings. This is easy to miss if you are used to higher stakes.

Also check if certain games are completely excluded from bonus play. For example, some progressive slots or all versions of blackjack might be off-limits. Playing an excluded game is a direct breach. The safest approach is to stick to games you know are allowed and keep your bets within the stated limit.

Read the terms in full

Finally, read the complete bonus terms, not just the summary. Look for clauses about maximum cashout, which caps how much you can withdraw from bonus winnings. Also check if the site requires you to complete wagering before any withdrawal, even your own deposit money.

If the terms are unclear, contact customer support before you claim. Ask direct questions about wagering, game contribution, and expiry. A reliable platform will give clear answers. If the support team is vague, that is a red flag. In short, treat the bonus as a contract and know every clause before you accept.
